22-12-2007 Jane on Ice
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

The last week the temperature was below 0 degrees, so it froze. Sow yesterday I saw people skating on natural ice, something that wasn't possible the last 3 years.
Because Jane has never seen ice Richard and I went to the Wollebrand in Naaldwijk. Many people were skating here sow Jane had to stay on line.
At first Jane didn't dare to go on the ice, so I pulled her chain and there she was...on the ice. She walked around a bit, but when she walked to fast she made a slide.
After we took a few pictures we went home again.

Maybe Jane also sees some snow this year

06-11-2007 Cas' first sleepover, 13 October 2007
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

The weekend of 13 October Cas had his first sleepover with Richard and me.
Richard and Sonja had to go to a party and asked us to baby-sit and off course I said yes.

The first half hour Cas was crying a little bit, he missed his parents and he was thirsty. After I gave him a clean nappy and a bottle he stopped crying. The rest of the evening he was laughing and sleeping. At 1 AM Cas got his last bottle before he went to sleep. He was alone in the big camping bed for the first time, but he didn't mind at all, he slept the whole night.

The next morning went to the guestroom and Cas was already awake, he was looking around a bit and still didn't make a noise. I picked him up and took him with me to our big bed. Finally there he had a lot of fun, was very active and had a big smile on his face.

'Round 1 PM Richard and Sonja came to pick up Cas. We didn't want him to leave yet because we had a lot of fun. Even Jane and Tarzan found it very interesting and they were very sweet for Cas.

We hope that Cas soon comes by again.

03-10-2007 Nick Jansen
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

On the 27 of September I got a new nephew, Nick.
Nick is the son of Michel & Shirley and was born by c-section.

Nick is in perfect health, weighs 1510 gram and is 40 cm tall.
Nick is born 8 weeks early and has to stay in the incubator for a few weeks.

UPDATE (03-10-07)
Shirley is doing a lot better; she even was allowed to go home today.

UPDATE (19-10-07)
From this day on Nick sleeps in a bed with a warm matras. He doesn't have to sleep in the incubator anymore.
Today I got to hold Nick. He had to get into his bed and Shirley was not yet allowed to get up with Nick in her hands so I got to hold him. What a sweet, little man it is, only a little bit bigger than my 2 hands.

UPDATE (23-10-07)
Nick is moved from couv 2 to couv 1.
This is a room with baby's that need less medical care.

UPDATE (03-11-07)
Today Nick finally was allowed to go home. His parents were very happy and picked him up 'round 10.30AM.
Because Nick weighs only 2100 gram Michel and Shirley have to follow the schedule of the hospital for the next 4 weeks. This means that Nick has to stay in bed most of the day. Every 3 hours he is allowed to get out of bed for his bottle and right after that he has to get back into his bed.

I hope we can go visit Nick sometime soon.

03-10-2007 A1 Grand Prix @ Zandvoort (28, 29, 30 September)
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

Last weekend the A1 Grand Prix was in Zandvoort.

Saturday 29 September
At 7.21 AM we took the train from Rijswijk to Zandvoort.
When we arrived at the circuit the 1ste free practice was already begun, so we immediately went to our tribune. Our tribune was in the Audi S turn, so we had a great view and because it was raining it was very hard for the cars to stay on track in this turn.
Between the A1 sessions we walked around the circuit and we went to the paddock. Last year the drivers walked there, but this year it was very quiet.
At 4.10 PM the qualifying sessions began, it was still raining and that was very advantageous for Jeroen Bleekemolen because he is a very good rain driver.
He qualified 5th for the Sprint race and 11th for the Feature race.

09.00 - 10.10 A1GP First practice session
10.20 - 10.50 A1GP demonstration laps John Watson and A1 Team Netherland
11.00 - 11.40 Formido Swift Cup Race 1, 12 laps
11.50 - 13.00 A1GP Second practice session
14.00 - 14.35 Dunlop SportMaxx Clio Cup Race 1, 12 laps
14.45 - 15.20 Benelux Racing League Race 1, 12 laps
15.45 - 16.00 A1GP Qualifying segment 1 - Sprint Race
16.05 - 16.20 A1GP Qualifying segment 2 - Sprint Race
16.25 - 16.40 A1GP Qualifying segment 3 - Feature Race
16.45 - 17.00 A1GP Qualifying segment 4 - Feature Race
17.15 - 17.50 Formula Ford Race 1, 12 laps

Sunday 30 September:
At 7.11 AM we again took the train from Rijswijk to Zandvoort.
We had to be at the circuit at 9 AM because Team Nederland gave a demo on the track. Rookie Arie Luyendijk jr. drove a few rounds and that was it. Personally I found it a little bit disappointing.
After the demo there was the Formido Swift Cup, another race class. In this race there was a woman driving in a pink car we saw the day before. She took of from second last place but with a little girl power she finished in 5th or 6th place and was the 2nd female that finished, very cool.
At 11 AM it was time for the start of the Sprint Race. The weather was clearing up and the sun come through the clouds. It was a very exciting race and Jeroen finished in 3rd
Between the Sprint Race and the Feature Race was a gap of 3,5 hours. So we went to the stand of Radio Veronica. DJ Silvan Stoet played 80’s & 90’s hits and gave away a lot of presents. I got 2 free carting tickets and Richard got a cap. Tim Coronel and Arie Luyendijk jr. came by and I got their autographs.
Finally at 3 PM the Feature Race began. Jeroen started from 11th place and finished in 8th place after an exciting race with a few yellow flags. The team of Great Britain won the first Race of the season.
After the race we had an Unox sandwich and went home.

09.00 - 09.15 A1GP A1 Team Netherlands Demonstration
09.30 - 10.10 Formido Swift Cup Race 2, 12 laps
11.00 - 11.30 A1GP Sprint Race

12.00 - 12.35 Formula Ford Race 2, 12 laps
12.45 - 13.20 Benelux Racing League Race 2, 12 laps
15.00 - 16.10 A1GP Feature Race
16.20 - 16.25 A1GP A1GP Podium Ceremony
17.00 - 17.35 Dunlop SportMaxx Clio Cup Race 2, 12 laps

11-09-2007 House-warming Party
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

Saturday the 8th of September Richard moved in with me so Sunday the 9th of September we had a house-warming-party.
In the beginning of the afternoon we put up the party tent because the wind was very hard and there was no sun, but…it still wasn’t raining.
Our family and friends were welcome from 4 PM for a drink and a barbeque, at 5 PM everyone was there.
After we had some coffee and cake Richard poured the first drink and my mother and I prepared the food for the barbeque.
At 6 the first sate went on the bbq, everyone enjoyed it very much specially the tagliatelle salade. When everyone was finished we had a delicious desert, chocolate and strawberry ice cake.
By the time it got dark everyone finished his desert we got the fire basket and made a little fire. The guys that were there helped pulling down the party tent and putted everything in my fathers van so it was already a bit cleaned up.
After that the party went on around the fire ‘till late that evening.

Thanks everyone for making this day a day we never gonna forget.

11-09-2007 80th birthday of the Schiedamse Reddingsbrigade
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

8 September the day that Richard moved in with me was also the day that the Schiedamse Reddingsbrigade had their anniversary. Richard and I received also an invitation for the party. The party was in Hawaiian style.

The party was in a dance school sow during the evening they showed us a bit what they can do. It was a nice show. But I must say that I preferred the wine .

Richard also pulled a trick this night. Elmar wouldn’t dance with his wife, but she told us that he can dance on K3. So Richard made a request for K3 and when they played it Elmar had to dance with his wife .

It was a fun evening.

11-09-2007 Hotel Akersloot
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

A few weeks ago Richard came with the idea to go to a hotel for one night. This because we had 2 weeks vacation and we had no plans.
We went looking for hotels and finally we found a very nice hotel in Alkmaar, Hotel Akersloot and so last Thursday (6-9) we went to Alkmaar.

Before we could go we had to go to the vet because Jane had some weird spots in her neck. The vet gave us some medicine for Jane and after 4 days it had to be gone. After that we brought Jane to my parents and finally we could go on our “vacation”.

At 4 PM we arrived by the hotel and checked in and went to our room. It was at the other side of the hotel in a separate building.
When we opened the room we could smell chlorine, we had our own private swimming pool in our room. After we checked out the rest of the room, king-size bed, Jacuzzi, massage shower, we got undressed and took a dive.
At 7 PM we went to the restaurant to have diner, it was very nice. After diner we went to our room and went swimming again.
The following morning we got breakfast in our room, 2 trays filled with food. It was quite nice to have breakfast in bed. After breakfast we went for a last swim.

11-09-2007 House Make-over
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

The last 3 weeks I’ve been working very hard in and around the house to give it a little make-over before Richard is moving in with me.
My house looked great already, but there were a few things that needed to be done, like painting the outside of the house, painting the attic, a new roof on my sheds and repainting the office and building a desk.

The last few weeks I’ve been working very hard:

22 August
My mother and I painted the attic. This was a terrible job. Not only because we had to lie on our back to paint the ceiling, but also because we were as white as the ceiling when we were finished. But it’s the result that counts.
We also finished painting the office, all the walls were done already, but inside the closet wasn’t finished.

27 August
Richard and I began on the outside of the house. Richard abraded the window-frames and I began painting. After 2 weeks the ground floor is almost done, I wanted to finish it earlier, but the whether isn’t that good.

5 September
In the evening my father and my brothers came to help to get the gravel off the roof of my sheds. Cok van Paasen is going to replace the roof and therefore the gravel needs to be cleaned and put back on the roof. The night before Richard and I already took the moss of the roof.
My brother and father cleaned it the next day.

8 September
Richard (my brother in law) and Richard installed the desk in the office. It was a very big and heavy desk as we saw it coming in the house, but when it was installed it only looked very nice. After the desk was installed Richard got his computers and all other stuff for the office from his parental house.

02-09-2007 Tarzan and Jane
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

Tarzan and Jane still don't like each other very much. Jane always wants to play and Tarzan doesn't like that, but today...

Jane was sleeping on the couch and Tarzan jumped on the couch, Jane woke up and saw Tarzan standing before her, normally Jane jumps up and wants to play with Tarzan but Tarzan finds this most annoying. But today Jane was calm and so Tarzan played a bit with Jane. This is the first time that Tarzan accepts Jane for longer than 2 seconds.

02-09-2007 Chocolate Rasul
Posted by: Marijke - Source:www.marijk.com

Last Wednesday Marijke and I went to the sauna. Around 11am we arrived at the Sauna. First we put on our Adam and Eva costumes. The first thing we did was looking around because it was our second time here. We took some different saunas and decided to have lunch. We both took tomato soap and a sandwich. Around 4pm we went to the chocolate rasul. Here you must cover your skin with chocolate except your head and your feet. In the mean time the whole room was steamy so you will sweat. After 20 minutes the rasul is finished and the chocolate will be rained of by the shower. After the rasul we went to the garden to have a rest for 15 minutes and than we went to the swimming pool. Around 5pm we went home. It was a great and restful day.
